'Trapped in a Dreadful Dream': Relatives of Missing Teens Desperately Seek Answers After Alpine Blaze

The families of teens unaccounted for after a deadly inferno at a bar in a Swiss ski resort are confronting an excruciating period of uncertainty for confirmed information and pleading for clues about their family members online.

The fire engulfed the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Swiss Alps of the Valais region, in the small hours of New Year's Day. Circulated footage depict the ceiling being engulfed in flames as bottles with sparklers are held aloft.

Emergency services have warned that it could take an extended period to identify the fatalities of the disaster, which claimed the lives of numerous partygoers and hurt another 119. Officials stated on Friday that 113 of the injured have been identified, with efforts continuing to locate the remaining few.

In the interim, relatives have been using the internet to appeal for clues about their friends who were present at the venue that fateful night.

Desperate Searches for the Unaccounted For

The fate of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are still unconfirmed, according to an appeal from his mother.

The who lives of Lutry near Lausanne, explained to a local newspaper that she had gone back to Lausanne to see if he was in the hospital, while his other parent did the equivalent search in Bern, but could not find him.

"It feels like a terrible dream, an ordeal. Either I find my son in the morgue, or I find him in intensive care. Words cannot describe it," she said.

She explained that some of his companions had been located with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they experienced a terrifying ordeal."

The Italian government has confirmed that a number of of its young people remain missing.

Junior golfer Emanuele Galeppini, 16, was last heard from around midnight on New Year's Eve, his father said.

Among them is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old junior golfer, who hailed from Italy but now residing in the UAE.

The Italian Golf Federation has said that he is dead, without directly referencing the fire, paying tribute to a "talented young man who represented dedication and true sportsmanship."

His father, is quoted as saying that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around midnight. An official spokesperson has clarified that a official announcement of his death is still pending.

Other Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is likewise unaccounted for. His mother said that he had been on holiday but had ventured out with friends and ended up at the venue.

"A close friend told me they escaped after the fire erupted and that he had his phone with him, but then at a certain point he lost sight of him," she recounted, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.

One of his educators stated, "I've always been struck by his good nature and positive demeanor, alongside great maturity. Every time ask if help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Greek and Swiss nationality but lives permanently in the country, was also at the bar on New Year's Eve, according to reports.

Her brother has shared an appeal online, saying the relatives has had "no information" regarding the teenager or the group she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Officials from her country of origin say they are continuing to monitor the developments.
