Heat and Portland Trail Blazers Claim Initial Victories After Player Detentions
The Miami Heat scored eighty-six opening half points against the Grizzlies
Miami Heat secured a decisive 146-114 win over the Memphis Grizzlies in their initial NBA match since guard Terry Rozier was arrested for alleged illegal sports betting.
Trail Blazers head coach Billups was additionally detained in connection with a sweeping FBI probe into illegal gambling. Both men contest the claims.

"We all had positive times with Billups and how he coached," Splitter remarked. "Our thoughts are with him and his loved ones but we have a job to do."
League Commissioner Adam Silver 'Disturbed' by Recent Events
Addressing the arrests for the first time, league head Adam Silver stated he was "deeply disturbed" by the events of the past few days.
"Nothing is more critical to the NBA and supporters than the integrity of the game," he informed a broadcaster. "Therefore I had a pit in my stomach. It was very upsetting."
The commissioner further mentioned an NBA investigation into the player's actions in spring 2023, when there was "aberrational betting" in a game he participated for the Charlotte Hornets against the New Orleans Pelicans, discovered no wrongdoing.
"We were informed by the authorities and the betting companies," he continued.
"We investigated that situation and were very transparent regarding it. Although there was that aberrational betting, we, frankly, couldn't find anything.
"Federal authorities has legal authority... [it] can threaten to put people in jail, can do all kinds of things that the league office is unable to.
"So, we've been cooperating from that point. Naturally, what they announced recently was an charge.
"And two and a half years after, he still hasn't been convicted of anything, in justice to Rozier.
"Obviously, it doesn't look good, but he's been put on administrative leave, and so it is a balance here between protecting people's rights and investigating."
