Comedian and author David Walliams lost his contract with book publisher.

Acclaimed writer for children and TV personality David Walliams is no longer with his publisher HarperCollins UK, the company has said.

A representative for the company said: "Upon deliberation, and under the leadership of its recently appointed chief executive, HarperCollins UK will not be releasing additional books by David Walliams."

Reports indicate that the decision was reached following an review of claims about inappropriate behaviour directed at women.

The company declined to specify the specific rationale behind the move, adding: "We refrain from speaking about private personnel issues."

A Prolific Literary Career

Walliams ranks among Britain's most successful children's authors, having sold over six tens of millions of copies worldwide in 55 languages.

The debut children's novel from Walliams, *The Boy in the Dress*, was released through HarperCollins fifteen years ago.

A number of his books, including *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have found new life as small-screen adaptations.

To date, he has released in excess of 40 works in total, which features a holiday title titled *Santa & Son*, which was released through HarperCollins in October.

His career breakthrough occurred on the broadcast sketch program *Little Britain* and has additionally received National Television Awards for his role as a panelist on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was made an OBE several years ago in recognition of his work for the charitable sector and arts community.

The publisher's decision comes after the naming of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's new chief executive last fall.
