Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
