Barcelona to Host Inaugural Match at Partially Completed Camp Nou over the weekend
The club confirmed they will play at the still-under-construction Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in domestic competition 30 months following their departure so building work could begin.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity but 45,401 spectators can be present under the licence granted. When completed, the Camp Nou is due to hold close to 105,000 fans, a rise from the old capacity. Barça announced completed upgrades featured a renovated tunnel for players plus modern locker rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barcelona held a fan-accessible workout inside the stadium on 7 November. Officials stated they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body for their upcoming Champions League fixture versus the German side in December at Camp Nou. They have been hosting matches at the Olympic Stadium.
