Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople announced on late Wednesday. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on December 29th, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two trusted companions.”
His release from the hospital comes as the boxing community offered condolences for the fighter in the wake of the devastating accident.
